How to Blow Up Animals A Beginners Guide to Fun With Balloons

Lon Cerel, the “world’s fastest balloon animal maker,” has written a how-to for all of us who wish we could make poodles, elephants, and such out of balloons the way Lon and some of his fellow artists do.
Here, in a highly-illustrated book that captures the fun of Cerel’s standup comedy-with-magic-and-ballooning act, are step-by-step instructions covering everything from how to correctly inflate the balloon without inflating your cheeks, through numerous rubber creatures, all the way to a few hats you can actually wear if you don’t mind being made fun of.
Featuring a “Forewarned” by the inimitable Henny Youngman, Cerel’s book comes with a coupon for 20 free balloons to get you started.
The book also features easy-to-understand illustrations cover to cover for all of the balloon sculptures.
Lon Cerel’s How To Blow Up Animals: A Beginner’s Guide to Fun with Balloons makes a great birthday gift, anniversary present, or the perfect gift for that person who has everything!

1 Star Balloon Animals
I had an instructional balloon animal book growing up and I wanted to buy my 11 year old niece a book & balloons for her birthday. This book has half-way decent written instructions but has lousy illustrations. He shows you how to make a few animals including a dog and then explains how to make several animals variations from the basic dog balloon shape. [...].
2 Stars Not Inside
I bought this book because of the pictures on the cover. Turns out the animals I wanted to make were not in the book. This book didn’t help me at all.
5 Stars Guiness Book Balloon Artist
I’ve seen this guy perform! Lon Cerel is a genius performer and has written this book with his same flair and humor. He’s in the Guinness Book for the fastest balloon-artist; this book represents training from the best possible source!
5 Stars Great Book, Great Balloon Artist!
Lon Cerel is a great balloon artist and it is perfect that he has a book to help other people learn this difficult skill. I have personally received many of Lon’s creations. He is truely amazing and the book “ain’t so bad either”.
5 Stars Great for entertaining the kids! Great gift for young “performers”!
Perfect book for having fun with the kids on a rainy afternoon, or for being the hit of the kids birthday party… for that matter, it’s fun for adults, too! The kid in all of us likes ballon animals! Shows clear illustrations of HOW TO, plus a fair amount of humor to go along with! Lon Cerel is one of the top balloon animal makers in the country (as well as one of the busiest magicians) and he knows how to teach it better than anybody!

5 Stars This book rates more than 5 stars!
I am a reading specialist, and our school is just beginning a new intervention program for phonics. This book is indispensable for teaching phonological awareness. It has loads of activities for all the “rungs on the ladder” of the phonemic awareness continuum. These include activities for:
Words in a Sentence, Syllables, Rhyming, counting phonemes, etc. Blackline masters for pictures, etc., used in the activities are included. It also includes activities for teaching phonics (phonological awareness does not include printed letters, but phonics does include print.)
I highly recommend this book for teaching beginning reading skills.
5 Stars Phonics Awareness
This is an excellent resource for k-1 teachers. Full of engaging and thought provoking activities for young children. It makes learning fun!!
5 Stars Full of great ideas
This book is full of great ideas for literacy centers in the primary classroom. There are great pictures and games that several students can do on their own. This is a must have resource for those that teach early reading.

4 Stars The title says it all!
This is a great resource for any teacher who wants to inform his/her writing instruction in their classroom. I feel that this book helped me plan purposeful and authentic writing experiences for my students. A must have!
5 Stars Super teaching help!
This book helps teachers explore the art of teaching with children. It has many teacher friendly lesson plans that coordinate well with 6 Traits teaching.
4 Stars A Good “Starter” Book
This is not an in-depth, philosophical treatment of writing (though some may say the author accomplishes it indirectly), but an example after example fun activity tool for teachers–sprinkled with nuggets of wisdom throughout. For those who find such things useful (I don’t necessarily) this latest edition includes rubrics, portfolio assessment, and writing across the curriculum. Even if you find only a small portion helpful, the purchase is worth the price. Suitable for primary through middle school.
A Non-Workbook, Non-Textbook Approach to Teaching Language Arts: Grades 4 Through 8 and Up
5 Stars Teaching Writing
I found this to be one of the most useful books for teaching writing skills. It is loaded with ideas that can be used in the classroom and can be used with teaching teachers how to teach writing skills. This book has some of the most creative and effective ideas I have seen in a long time. In fact I loaned it to someone about a year ago and have not seen it since. This demonstrates its quality. It is an easy read with samples that one can use in class forever. I recommend it highly.
5 Stars excellent resource for upper-elementary writing teachers
This book provides numerous ideas and suggestions for creative and purposeful writing activities for upper elementary level students. The activities are easy to intergrate in a busy classroom, can be adapted for different grade and ability levels, and the kids love them!
